LİNDE

Linde is the only company, world-wide, that designs, owns and operates hydrogen and synthesis gas plants using its own technology. Experience from its own plant operations flows into plant construction.

Linde's service package comprises:

 studies
 capacity expansions
 turnkey plants

Linde's technologies include:

the entire processing field for the production and treatment of synthesis gas and H2/CO.
the utilization of all kinds of petrochemical feedstocks from natural gas to heavy oil all the way to coal for the production of synthesis gas and H2/CO.
the entire field of large-scale technological production capacities for synthesis gas and H2/CO.
The feedstock natural gas, liquid gas and naphtha are generally converted into a raw synthesis gas consisting of hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO). This is then further processed depending on the required final products. In the case of pure hydrogen as main product, the process includes such components as the catalytic shift conversion of the CO and a pressure swing adsorption unit in which all impurities are removed in a single process step.

In plants for the production of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, chemical and physical wash units are used for the removal of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide as well as a low temperature process for product purification with a downstream adsorption unit for the production of ultra-pure hydrogen.

Heavy feed stocks from residual oil to asphalt and coal are also partially combusted with oxygen in a non-catalytic partial oxidation to produce a raw gas, which is then further processed into marketable products. The process steps used include CO conversion, sour gas removal by RECTISOL® washing and cryogenic H2/CO separation.

Furthermore Linde is working on establishing hydrogen as an energy carrier as part of a changing energy chain. In addition to the conventional production of hydrogen for industrial applications we develop sustainable production processes like our innovative glycerol-to-hydrogen plant. Here, a by-product of the biodiesel production is converted into hydrogen that will be used to fuel demonstration vehicles in the German cities Berlin and Hamburg.
